Snow Fun Safaris Lapland is a safari company located in Äkäslompolo. We are prepared to arrange interesting programs throughout the seasons for you, programs that will fulfil your reasons for coming to Lapland. We take you to enjoy the nature by snowmobiles, team of dogs rides or by snowshoe walks. We can acquaint you to the life of reindeer farms or local wineries too. But above all, to gain wonderful holiday memories!
The one and only job of a customer service business - like ours - is to make the customers going for the trips to enjoy themselves – to make them feel comfortable and safe. Of course the guides have to know all the basic technical skills too, but we feel that the most important thing for the guides is to have the right spirit in whatever it is they are doing at the time.
We do also feel that the strength of our organization is flexibility, which makes possible that everybody does everything, all though many tasks are of course, taken care by those who do them the best. The length of the work day is determined by the customers in general, we are not used to saying no, we do just about anything, the customers decide.
WE RESPECT CULTURE, TRADITION AND NATURE
Snow Fun safaris are much more than driving a snowmobile or sliding around on snowshoes. Both are means of getting out and enjoying the magnificent Ylläs scenery and learning about the local ecosystem, history and culture.
During the safaris we acquaint our guests to the nature and the tradition of Lapland inhabitants, how they have lived and traveled throughout the years, what have been their hobbies and beliefs.
You can also get a real contact to the real life of Lapp people. Please have a look and ask more about the details and trips not listed in this brochure… Having a local guide thoroughly familiar with the area is what turns an ordinary safari into a Snow Fun Safari.
MOST IMPORTANT THING IS SAFETY
Our experienced guides have taken first aid and general safety courses, our equipment is new and well serviced, the speed and the routes of our snowmobile safaris are always selected according to the skills of the customers. There are no more than 7 snowmobiles for one guide to direct. Our guides are selected so that they can communicate with the customers. Here are just a few examples of our principles that we follow to ensure the best possible safety for the customers.

We do differenet kind of guided activities like snowmobile safaris, snowshoe treks, ice fishing safaris, Husky sleddog safaris and reindeer safaris.
Safaris
Snow Fun Safaris arrange fun tours by snowmobile for small groups. But that is not all, because we also want our guests to learn something about Lapland, its magnificent scenery, and the lives of the people of Ylläs past and present. In addition to showing you the snowy forests and the mighty fells we therefore try to introduce you to places important to the Sámis and Finns in days gone by, and to bring them alive through the stories told by the guide. We are, furthermore, deeply concerned for your physical well-being and to this end lay on a picnic menu second to none.
Snowshoes are the perfect way of exploring the mighty Ylläs fells - in complete silence. The trek starts at Kellokas, now being developed into a guide centre for the national park, right up near the tree line. The snow packed down by the wind is easy to walk on, but forging a way through the deep fell gullies can be quite hard work. The first Finns are known to have come to Äkäslompolo to fish. Hundreds of years ago the lake was already providing whitefish and trout for the local peasants in winter. In the olden days people fished to keep hunger from the door, but nowadays it is the thrill of the catch that motivates people to get out on the ice.
The scenery and the wonders of the Varkaankuru gorge are, however, well worth the effort, whether the trek is made in dazzling sunshine or an arctic blizzard, by day or by night. The guide's familiarity with the terrain, its flora and fauna is the difference between an ordinary safari and a Snow Fun Safari.
Rainbow trout can also be caught in addition to the indigenous species in the lakes supervised by the Finnish Forest and Park Service. Enough perch to make a fish soup can be caught in any lake, but the crafty fisherman can, if lucky, hope to land quite a sizeable whitefish.

have lived and traveled throughout the years, what have been
their hobbies and beliefs. Getting acquainted with all this
means also getting a chance to return back in time by
