Welcome to first class! – A new chair lift for Ylläs
In the summer of 2022 Ylläs is getting a Doppelmayr D-Line six person chair lift. The chair lift will replace the current lower T-bar lift ("Alahissi") of Ylläs Ski Resort, Ylläsjärvi. The new lift line is about a kilometer long and the new chair lift can transport 3,000 people an hour to the tree line. The ride from bottom station to exit point is about four minutes.
The new chair lifts are modern and comfortable. Each lift has six separate seats that can be heated. The seats warm to about 25 degrees Celsius and have a protective hood that reaches just below your knees. This way you can enjoy a protected ride with a panoramic view in any weather. Thanks to its liquid mass dampers the lift swings either very little or not at all even in gusty winds. The best part of your first class trip is how quietly the lift moves.
The chair lift is also suited for summer use and is at the service of the customers of Ylläs Bike Park during summer season. For summer some of the seats are replaced by bicycle racks.
The chair lift opens for the winter season of 2022–2023.
Building the chair lift was part of an investment project with a total cost of about 13 million euros. Part of the investment were the lighting and automatic snow making system for the Gondola slope, built in the summer of 2021. The investment has been granted development financing from the European Regional Development Fund.
