In winter, in windless weather, it is often 10–15°C – and even 30°C – warmer higher up in the fells than in the villages below, thanks to inversion. So head to Lämpökolmonen Ski Trail, to the visitor centre or to Ylläs Ski Resort Ylläsjärvi to escape the cold!
Observations are updated mainly every 15 minutes.
Temperature accuracy is ±0,5°C but please note that the microclimates vary a lot.
Snow depth is measured in Fell Yllästunturi’s northern side, about 400 meters above sea level, in an open forest, accuracy about ±1cm.

Summer trails are open from June to early/mid October. Summer use is allowed until the the classic xc skiing tracks are made – except lit trails which are only for skiing since first snow.

Nightless Night & Midnight Sun: 30.5.–13.7.
Polar night: December–January. In Äkäslompolo Village polar night lasts up to 50 days as fells blocks the sun, while at the fell tops only for few days.
