Trails and map

If you are eager for more after the guided snowmobile tour, you can always rent snowmobiles on your own. There are more than 300 kilometres of regularly maintained snowmobile trails. To find your way around, you can either by traditional paper map form the local shops or an online map where you can also follow the maintenance on real time.

Services along the trails

At Ylläsjärvi village snowmobiling track runs through the village center, where you can easily access grocery store, fuel station, cafes and restaurants and several accommodations. The track runs further up to top of Ylläs Fell and past the services at Sport Resort Ylläs.

At Äkäslompolo village there is a parking place at Maritinsaarentie. This is a good place to start if you are transporting your snowmobile with trailer. Please note that snowmobiling at Lake Äkäslompolo is always prohibited. The official snowmobile track ends at Sivulantie and there is only a short track leading to Jouninkauppa and the fuel station.

Snowmobiler's checklist

When snowmobiling in Finland you must have a valid driver’s licence with you. You must follow the official traffic codes. Snowmobiling outside the marked snowmobile tracks is not allowed. It is always prohibited to snowmobile in the National Park.
