Are the ski trails mechanically prepared?
Ylläs has 330km of cross country trails and they are all mechanically prepared.

Are the ski trails illuminated?
38km of the trails are illuminated, from 7am to 10pm. The illuminated trails are shown on the trail map.

Are the trails suitable for both classic and skating style skiing?
Yes.

Is there a charge for using the cross country trails?
No, however in purchasing the cross country map you are making a contribution to the maintenance of the trails.

Where can I buy a cross country map?
Maps are sold in most shops and hotels; they are also available from the Kellokas visitors centre.

Can I walk on the cross country trails?
No, it is forbidden to walk on the cross country trails; this includes both the tracks and the area between them. You can find winter tracks for snowshoeing at the Ylläs cross country map.

How can I arrange cross country skiing lessons?
Lessons are available in both villages and are provided by Ylläs Ski (Äkäslompolo village)
