Mid-winter (December-February)

The year starts and days are getting longer. Every ray of light is important and brings hope after the long period of darkness. It´s time to participate outdoor activities during the season, including snow-shoe hiking, snowmobiling, skiing and ice fishing.

  • Dress warmly: use the layering method in which you have the wool fabric near to your body and apply down jacket on top. Take food and warm drink woth you in the fells and watch the sunrise or sunset.
  • Even if in the villages there is frosty, it might be quite mild up in the fells. This is caused by the inversion in which the warmer air rises upwards.
