Surfing in the winter is an easy way to get to know this natural way of moving with the wind, normally done in the summer and also one of the Olympic sports. You may be surprised how easy it is to use the wind as your motor to power you along - just jump on the sledge and your dance with the wind can begin!
Two different types of equipment can be used for winter surfing. If you are surfing on ice you can use the skating sledge and if you are surfing on the snow you can use the ski sledge. The winter sails are similar to the summer ones. Basic handling can be learned within a few hours, but that’s just the start - different winds, conditions and ways of surfing allow for a lot of variation and can turn this into a very challenging hobby for many years!
