WITHIN EASY REACH

Ylläs is located north of Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, in Scandinavia, Northern Europe. Ylläs area consists of two original lappish villages. Äkäslompolo village is located on the northern side of the the Ylläs fell and Ylläsjärvi village on the southern side. Scenery road (Maisematie) connects the villages. The distance between the villages is 15 kilometers.

You can reach Ylläs either by air from Helsinki to Kittilä (about 1:30 hours) or by train from Helsinki to Kolari (about 13 hours). You can also board the train in several places around the route.

Kolari Railway Station
There is bus transportation to Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo from Kolari railway station. There is also bus transportation from Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo to each train departing from Kolari.

Kittilä Airport Airport Buss 15.11-30.11.2009
The airport buses drive from Kittilä Airport during the season to Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi (from domestic flights). At other times a call taxi should be reserved one day in advance (tel. 0600 14 919, 1,17 EUR/min+pvm).

Pajala-Ylläs Airport
There are two daily flights from Luleå to Pajala. To Luleå you can fly from Stockholm. Further information at airport.pajala.se. From Pajala you can take a minibus to Ylläs. Price 10 EUR/ adult and 5 EUR/ child. No minimum number of passengers. Please, make reservation at the latest on the previous day from Pajala airport. Car Rental
At Kittilä Airport you can find all the major car rental companies, for example Scandia Rent and Ylläs Express. They deliver vehicles to Kolari Railwaystation and to Ylläs Ski resort area,

Taxis
Taxis (taksi) can be obtained by telephone. The central taxi reservation number in Ylläs is +358 (0)16 106 422 (0.58€ + local telephone fee).

HOW TO GET AROUND IN YLLÄS?
The skibus runs between the villages Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo.
